Key Competences

As parents, we want to prepare our Children in the best possible way to cope with a constantly changing world. The time of childhood is often a carefree moment, but also a time of diligent learning and development. It is during the nursery and kindergarten period that the little ones acquire knowledge in a unique, even magical way. In Niedźwiadków we have this knowledge and we are not afraid to use it to pass it on to our pupils. This is the perfect time to start preparing the Little People for their adult life. They will certainly need a variety of skills, so we must start the learning process today to equip them with the appropriate competences.

We distinguish eight key competences that combine knowledge, skills and attitudes considered necessary for the needs of self-fulfillment and personal development, active citizenship, social inclusion and employment.

The key competences include:

  1. Communication in the mother tongue - the ability to express and interpret concepts, thoughts, feelings, facts and opinions, orally and in writing, and linguistic interaction in an appropriate and creative form across the full range of social and cultural contexts.
  2. Communication in foreign languages - includes, in addition to the main dimensions of the ability to communicate in the mother tongue, mediation and understanding of cultural differences. The degree of proficiency depends on several factors and on your listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities.
  3. Mathematical and basic science and technical competences - includes the ability to develop and use mathematical thinking to solve problems arising from everyday situations, with an emphasis on process, action and knowledge. Basic scientific and technical competences concern the mastery, use and application of knowledge and methods explaining the natural world. They involve an understanding of the changes caused by human activity and the responsibility of individual citizens.
  4.  Digital / IT competences - the skilful and critical use of information society technologies, and thus basic ICT skills.
  5. Learning to learn - related to the ability to learn consistently, to organize one's own learning, individually and in groups, according to one's own needs, and to be aware of methods and possibilities.
  6. Social and civic competences - social competences are personal, interpersonal and intercultural competences as well as all forms of behavior preparing people for effective and constructive participation in social and professional life. It is related to personal and social well-being. It is important to understand the rules of conduct and customs in the different societies and environments in which individuals function. Civic competences, especially knowledge of social and political concepts and structures (democracy, justice, equality, citizenship and civil rights), prepare to engage in active and democratic activities.
  7. Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship - the ability to turn ideas into action. It is creativity, innovation and risk-taking, as well as the ability to plan and run projects to achieve goals. The person is aware of the context of their work and is able to seize the opportunities that arise. This is the basis for acquiring more specific skills and knowledge needed by those undertaking or participating in social or commercial projects. This should include an awareness of ethical values ​​and promote good governance.
  8. Cultural Awareness and Expression - This includes appreciating the importance of creatively expressing ideas, experiences and emotions through a range of means of expression (music, performing arts, literature and the visual arts).

 

Contemporary times are changing expectations towards science, which should not prepare them to live in an ideal world, but educate young generations that will be ready in many areas to face the challenges of the unforeseeable future.
